What this calculator does
Whether it's a site perimeter, temporary construction fence, or a finished property line, this app builds the material take-off — posts, rails or panels, and infill — from the total run, so the bid and the order both hold up.
How it works
- Posts = total run ÷ post spacing + 1, plus a post at each corner and gate.
- Panels or rails per section for the fence type you're building.
- Infill (pickets, mesh, or panels) sized to the run, with waste.
- Gates subtract from infill and add hardware.
Worked example
A 200-ft site fence at 8-ft spacing: 200 ÷ 8 + 1 = 26 posts and 25 sections, plus corner and gate posts — set in concrete you can size with the concrete calculator.
