What this calculator does
This app totals the linear feet of baseboard, casing, crown, or chair rail for a room, adds waste for miters and offcuts, and breaks the order into stock lengths so you buy efficiently.
How it works
- Perimeter of the room (less door openings) gives the base linear feet.
- Waste โ a percentage (often 10โ15%) covers miter cuts and mistakes.
- Stock lengths โ it splits the total into 8, 12, or 16 ft pieces to minimize joints and waste.
Worked example
A 12 x 14 room: perimeter = 2 ร (12 + 14) = 52 ft. Less a 3-ft door = 49 ft. Add 12% waste = 55 ft, which is five 12-ft sticks.

Trim and molding FAQ
How much waste should I add?
Ten to fifteen percent is typical for trim, covering miter cuts, coping, and the occasional bad piece. The app lets you set the percentage.
Does it subtract openings?
Yes. Door openings are removed from baseboard runs, while casing is added around windows and doors separately.
Does it pick stock lengths?
Yes. It breaks the total into common stock lengths to reduce joints and leftover, so the order is practical.
Does it work offline?
Yes, it runs 100% offline with no account. Free with rewarded ads; a one-time $2.99 Pro unlock adds PDF export and saved history.
